APA set off a social media firestorm Wednesday with a press conference and subsequent news release that it would be convert it’s $600,000+ payout at next month’s National Singles Championships into hugs, yes HUGS.
Word quickly spread across the APA network, with many asking themselves “is that for real” before quickly realizing the significance of the announcement of the date being April 1, which of course is April Fool’s Day. Of course members planning to participate in the event can rest assured that APA will in fact be paying our over $600,000 in cash and prizes, and likely providing some hugs as well.
Based on much of the feedback from APA members, they not only enjoyed the gag, but were impressed to see APA’s sense of humor as well.
