The talk of day 3 at this year’s event is newcomer Carlos Carter of Toney, Ala. Carter has advanced to the final round after a 7-4 win over Chuck Roth of Forest Hill, Md., in his very first U.S. Amateur Championship appearance.
Carter will take a breather and scout his potential opponents as Brian Parks and Roth duke-it-out for a bid at the title in the semifinal.
