Christy Jue and Miguel Vasquez never even considered qualifying for the National Team Championships when they began playing 8-Ball Doubles in the Spring Session 2013. Miguel has played in the APA for about 5 years, while Christina just began a little over a year ago. They both love pool and play for fun.

“The fact that we beat teams that made it to Vegas numerous times in the past, and players that have many more years’ experience, it was such an amazing feeling to come in 1st Place in our League,” Christina said. “The fact that we qualified together in our first session together made it even more precious.”

The two met about a year ago when they were playing on opposing teams on APA League night. He was a skill level 6 and she was skill level 2, and as luck would have it, they were paired up against each other that night. He beat her, but that helped open the door to their impending relationship.

“We saw each other every week after that, and I always jokingly told him he was mean for beating me,” Christy said. “In December of last year, I watched him play in a tournament after League play. After the tournament was over, he walked me to my car and asked if I would go out with him. I met him that Friday night for our first date on Dec. 7, 2012. We have been together ever since.”

They both are Captain and Co-Captain of several APA teams. Christy’s skill level has improved to a 4 with the coaching of Miguel. This was their first trip together and first trip to Vegas for both of them. They hoped to have fun, do the best they can and enjoy their time in Vegas.
