Steve Freeman of Garner, N.C., plays a huge part in the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill APA! He started playing in the Spring Session of 2009. His friend, William Monroe, played softball with Steve and recruited him to join the APA.

Steve has worked his way up to a skill level 7 in both 8-Ball and 9-Ball. He currently plays Double Jeopardy (both 8-Ball and 9-Ball on the same night) on Mondays and Wednesdays. He also plays in the traveling Bar Wars division. He went to Vegas for the National Team Championships in 2011 and 2013 and for the 2012 National Singles Championships 8-Ball Classic.

“Steve always has great ideas. He’s well respected in our League and we can always count on him if we need anything,” said Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill League Operator Marc Lancaster.

In every division that Steve plays, he’s the Division Representative.  He makes sure his role is known to all the teams and generally maintains 100% retention in all his divisions!  If a team happens to leave, he makes sure he recruits another team to take their place.  Recently, a new Host Location opened and he started a 6-team Double Jeopardy Division on Wednesdays and a 6-team Double Jeopardy Division on Thursdays.  He also referees at the city tournaments and advertises and runs Singles Boards—he’s run close 100 boards over the past few years.

His wife, Cathy Freeman, and his son, Scott Freeman, also play in the League. They both play Double Jeopardy as well.  Cathy plays on one of his teams, while Scott plays on a few of his teams.

“Steve is an all-around awesome guy and someone that you want to have on your team!” said Lancaster. “We’re lucky to have him as a player and a Division Rep for our area.”
