The New Year is upon us, but 2015 was so awesome, we couldn’t help but look back fondly on the past year.

Here’s our Top 10 highlights from 2015:

10. In January, we rolled out Florian “Venom” Kohler’s last viral video hit “Venom Unleashed In Vegas.”
9. In February 2015, news broke that the Riviera Hotel & Casino – our home for nearly a quarter-century – would be closing its doors forever the day after our National Singles Championships in May.

8. On April 1, APA President Renee Lyle called a press conference to announce that we’d be converting more than $600,000 in prize money at the upcoming National Singles Championships into hugs, yes hugs! Don’t believe us, watch it here.

7. On May 4, 2015, the Riviera Hotel and Casino closed its doors forever after 60 years.  The hotel’s closure came just hours after the conclusion of the APA National Singles Championships, with several APA members and employees being some of the last out the door of the iconic casino. It was a bittersweet parting, but we were super excited to move our Championships to the Westgate Resort & Casino just across the street!

6. In June, we introduced you to Harry the Pool Fairy, who helps educate you all how to get Home by 11 on League night! You won’t want to miss this one!
5. In mid-July, we held our biggest Junior Championships to date where we crowned new champions! These aspiring young poolplayers are amazing!
4. In August, a new era began for APA as the World’s Largest Pool Tournament debuted in its new home!

3. The U.S. Amateur Championship was held in November where we crowned “King Henry” Henry Brodt champion for the third time and making him the oldest player to win the title!

2. Our very own “Santa Cue” showcased his trick shots in this festive video that’s received thousands of views! Even though the holidays are over, it’s sure to bring you some cheer!
1. As the year came to a close in December, we announced that the APA National Team Championships would be renamed the APA World Pool Championships – making what was already a global affair “official!” The APA National Singles Championships will be renamed the APA Poolplayer Championships (happening in just a few months).
