Jeff Abernathy handed defending champion Brian Parks his first loss in this year’s U.S. Amateur Championship.  Parks was riding high after sending both Raymond Linares and Stewart Warnock to the one-loss bracket, but had his momentum suddenly halted by Abernathy.

Abernathy held a 3-2 lead following the 8-Ball set, and rolled to victory taking four straight in the 9-Ball set for a 7-2 win.  He advances to the final four on the unbeaten side and will square-off versus Clint Clark.

Tom Acciavatti and Kenny Brisbon also remain undefeated and will meet early Sunday.

Parks went on to oust Linares early Sunday morning with his second win over the former champ in this year’s tournament.  He faces another tough test versus Dustin Morris, with the loser being eliminated.
