In the CPA, Everyone Can Play and Anyone Can Win.®
The Canadian Poolplayers Association or CPA is part of the world’s largest pool league, also known as the American Poolplayers Association (APA) in the United States. Founded in 1979 by former professional poolplayers Terry Bell and Larry Hubbart, the League is enjoyed by more than a quarter-million amateur poolplayers worldwide each and every week.
CPA offers both 8-Ball and 9-Ball Leagues, as well as Master’s, Ladies and Doubles formats. CPA Leagues are conducted by League Operators in each local area.
The top teams in each area advance to the World Pool Championships in Las Vegas. This event, also recognized by Guinness Records as the World’s Largest Pool Tournament, offers more than $1.5 million in prize money!
Rules for League Play in the CPA
CPA League play is governed by the same rules as APA League play. All CPA and APA League utilize the The Equalizer ® handicap scoring system. Find downloadable version of our Team Manual and Rule Booklets in multiple languages here.
I’ve been a League Operator for six years. In my 30 years of business experience, this is the classiest organization that I have had the pleasure to be involved with. The enjoyment of watching teams and players grow and develop over time with the CPA has been an experience that can be described only as priceless.
I’ve been involved with the CPA/APA for the past 13 years and it’s been the best decision I’ve ever made. The franchisees, as well as National office staff, provide unlimited support in dealing with all questions that may arise. With a great vision, and a family atmosphere throughout, the CPA/APA will continue to be the industry leader for many years to come.
