Earlier this year, the Akron/Canton APA lost Willie Hill, a very beloved member. On Sept. 20, 2014 the League held a memorial tournament at Fiddlestix Billiards Cafe in Canton, Ohio to honor Willie and raise money for the diseases that took him.
It was a race-to-2, 8-Ball double elimination tournament, with a $20 entry fee. The brackets were broken down by Skill Level Tier. In addition to the tournament entry fees, 50/50 raffles, as well as cash and food donations also added to the cause.
APA member Annie Giller was the primary driving force and organizer for this event. Over $2,000 was donated to the ALS Association and American Diabetes Association on Willie’s behalf!
