APA of San Antonio held a charity tournament on Sept. 14 at Fast Eddie’s – Embassy Oaks in San Antonio.  It was an adult-child 8-Ball Scotch Doubles format with proceeds benefiting the Down Syndrome Association of South Texas on behalf of Haly Welch.  The age group for the children was 10-17, with 15 teams participating in the event.

In addition to the tournament, the day’s activities included a raffle with various prizes. Prizes included a custom cue made by APA member Hector Otani and a Cuetec cue from Pete’s Billiards (the owners are also APA members).

Between the tournament entry fees and raffle sales, over $1,000 was raised!    An added bonus to the day was when the winner of the custom cue, Jane Tomey, returned the cue back to the League Operator, Scott Racy. It was raffled off at the League’s banquet on Sept. 21 to raise additional funds for the charity.  Trophies were presented to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place finishers.
