Last October, Central Virginia APA hosted its Inaugural “Go Pink” fundraiser for cancer research, prompted by the efforts of then 11-year-old twins, Destiny Lander and Dakoda Lander. Over $1,300 was raised by local APA members and donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation!

The 2014 Tri-Cup, and 2nd Annual fundraiser, was held Oct. 10-12, 2014. Members were determined to surpass last year’s donation. Destiny and Dakoda made hundreds of various pink bracelets, along with pink ribbons with the APA Shoot for a Cure pins. No person was able to sneak past League Operator Marguerite Rueger without being pinned and donating to the cause!

Michelle Lander, APA employee and grandmother of the twins, designed her own “Support Breast Cancer Awareness” t-shirts that were sold along with multiple other APA shirts, sweatshirts, towels, etc., donated by the Local League Operators. A raffle was also held for a large pink gift basket of goodies donated by Billy Gressett and his APA team. A total of $2,056 was donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation!

“We would like to thank all of our APA members and the Sandston Moose staff for their generous donations!” said Central Virginia APA League Operators Marguerite Rueger and Dawn Buchanan. “Additionally, there were many members whose time and efforts made this a huge success (Lindsey Thompson, Jennifer Swann, Kari Mashinski and Shaun Swindell)! Without all of you, we wouldn’t have been able to donate $2,056 to the Susan G. Komen foundation this year! Central Virginia APA rocks!”
