Each year for the last 8 years the Monroe & Carbon APA (MCAPA) runs a toy collection drive in conjunction with their annual Doubles event weekend. In the past they’ve collected for organizations such as Toys for Tots, Mikey’s Closet and a children’s wing of a local hospital. In 2022, they selected the Greater Pittston Santa Squad. It’s a local organization that helps ensure every child in the Greater Pittston area has toys under the tree on Christmas morning. Several local APA members also volunteer with this wonderful organization.

Around 225-250 players showed up to participate! In addition to the smaller toys, several people donated larger items like bikes, electronics and skateboards. They also ran a “Beat the League Operator” tournament that raised nearly $1,000! Players also made cash donations of over $500. More than $1,500 was donated to help the Greater Pittston Santa Squad purchase additional toys as needed.

“I’m really overwhelmed and in awe of the generosity of our MCAPA players!” Alex Holtzman, MCAPA League Operator said. “The Greater Pittston Santa Squad couldn’t believe the amount of toys and donations that were collected. Everyone really knocked it out of the park this year!”
