New Champion in Women’s U.S. Amateur Championship

Robin Parker of Birmingham, Ala., is the 2016 Women’s U.S. Amateur Champion.  Parker defeated Jackie Blomlie of Ocala, Fla., in the finals late Thursday afternoon 9-4.  After having failed to qualify in the Preliminary Rounds five years ago, Parker stormed through this year’s field going undefeated.  In addition, Parker handed Blomlie her only losses of the tournament. As champion, Parker moves on to a pro event in 2017, while Blomlie finishes as Runner-up.  Betty Lea of Conyers, Ga., finished 3rd Place in the year’s event.
