LAKE SAINT LOUIS, MO (April 1, 2015) — Major news from the American Poolplayers Association (APA) world headquarters this morning, with an announcement that could shake the entire billiard industry to its core.
For the first time in pool history, or the history of any other sport for that matter, APA President Renee Lyle announced that APA would covert it’s nearly $600,000 cash payout for its upcoming National Pool Championship in Vegas in April to hugs, yes, Hugs.
“There’s plenty of cash in the world today, there simply aren’t enough hugs, in our sport, or any other. We aim to change that,” Lyle proclaimed proudly.
When pressed by reporters on details of hug distribution, Lyle sidestepped the question, instead announcing the formation of an APA subcommittee consisting of Santa Claus, the Easter bunny and the Tooth Fairy to help make such major determinations.
“Tough questions will need to be answered, and these are the people to answer them,” said Lyle.
Lyle declined comment when the committee would offer such recommendations. She instead offered this announcement to members.
“We want to wish everyone a happy 1st day of April, and be on the lookout for April Fool’s pranks!
