When Division Representative David Frosty Wallace passed away this year, fellow APA of Greater Albany members knew it wasnt just going to be tough on his family emotionally, but financially as well. With the assistance of APA of Greater Albany League Operator Matt MacPhail, the League came together for two separate events to raise money and help support his family through tough times.
The first event took place on Jan. 16 at Wallaces Host Location, Golden Cue Billiards in Albany, N.Y. Tom Acciavatti won the 8-Ball Singles tournament that included 40 participants. Calvin McMillan finished in 2nd Place. Everyone who donated received a commemorative medal.
The second event featured a series of Mini Tournaments, DJ and raffles. It was sponsored by Diamond Eight Billiards in Latham, N.Y., and held on Jan. 22. Combined, both events drew over 70 people and raised $2,000 for the Wallace family.
Frosty was the perfect example of an APA League member, said MacPhail. He loved the game of pool and was a proud supporter of the APA. He created a number of teams called Quick Sticks, and made it to the Local Team Championships the last two years.
