The 2nd Annual APA Illinois State Invitational took place Nov. 12-14. APA members from all over the state of Illinois traveled to the Grand Hotel in Peoria, Ill., for a weekend full of pool, pressure and fun!
The tournament was a modified single elimination format comprised of 5-8 person teams using the standard 23-Rule. The team event played host to 21 teams from 11 APA League areas and paid out an impressive $2,400 to the winning team. The champions are The Last Hoorah from McHenry, Ill., who won the title in a hill-hill battle! Finishing in 2nd Place was The Generaless Brigade from Collinsville, Ill. They gave the crowd a good showing and earned $1,300 in the process.
In addition to the team event, five 8-Ball Singles tournaments were held throughout the weekend. The Singles tournaments were tiered into a skill level 2-3 board, skill level 4 board, skill level 5 board, skill level 6 board and a skill level 7 board, with each board containing 16-24 players. The winners not only took home the title and bragging rights, but a nice chunk of change as well!
If that wasn’t enough, mini tournaments were held round-the-clock. These tournaments featured fields of 4, 8 or 16 players and offered 100% payback of entry fees which ranged from $10 to $20. All mini tournament participants were active APA members and received a skill level card in order to compete. Skill level cards were provided to players at registration.
