On Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, the Vonta Leach Foundation partnered with the APA Pool League of Maryland to host the 2nd Annual Shoot for a Cure. It was a round-robin 9-Ball tournament held at Dave and Busters in the Anne Arundel County Mall. Twenty-five 3-person teams competed with Baltimore Raven Team Captains for a spot in the final 4. Some of the Ravens players included Vonta Leach, Ray Rice, Jacoby Jones, Michael Oher, Tyrod Taylor, Torrey Smith and Justin Tucker.
APA of Maryland held a qualifying tournament in early October. Teams paid $100 for a chance to advance to the main event. Fifty-eight teams participated and 10 teams advanced.
During the main event there were silent auctions and raffles sold to add to the grand total of $8,431 that the APA of Maryland raised. 100% of all proceeds were donated to the Vonta Leach Foundation for Breast Cancer Awareness.
The champion team was Tyrod Taylor (Ravens player), David Bambino, Sam Lacy and David Howdyshell. The 2nd place team was Vonta Leach (Ravens player), Joe Huntzinger, Mike Fair and Tom Gourley. All six individuals play in the APA of Maryland.
