The “drive to 5” is complete. When the final 9-ball dropped at the 2017 U.S. Amateur Championship, it was a familiar name hoisting the trophy.
Brian Parks of Bakersfield, Calif., defeated Jeremy Edwards of Farmland, Ind., 11-6 in the final round of this year’s championship. The victory marked Parks fifth U.S. Amateur Championship title.
Parks went undefeated throughout this year’s tournament, and will advance to the 2018 U.S. Open courtesy of APA.
Edwards finishes as Runner-up in only his second U.S. Amateur Championship appearance.
Former champions David Rowell of Birmingham, Ala., and Henry Brodt of Laguna Beach, Calif., finished 3rd and 4th respectively.
Marvin Guss of Chicago, Ill., and Geoffrey Quezada of Arvada, Colo., tied for 5th Place.
