After several close finishes over the years, Melinda Huang of Los Angeles, Calif., is the newest woman to carry the title of U.S. Amateur Champion.  Huang defeated Amy Theriault of Sandusky, Ohio by a score of 9-4.  She’ll advance to a pro tournament next year.

battled her way back through the one-loss bracket after suffering an earlier round loss to Theriault.

Theriault finishes as Runner-up in this year’s event.  Rhea Brooks of St. Louis, Mo., finished in 3rd Place.

Thirty-nine women competed in this year’s Womens U.S. Amateur Championship.
