A record eight former champions are competing in this year’s U.S. Amateur Championship.

Headlining the class is four-time and defending champion Brian Parks of Bakersfield, Calif.  Some in attendance at Stroker’s Billiards and even some viewers following online have dubbed Park’s appearance this year as the “drive to five.”

In addition to Parks, former champions who’ve traveled here to this year’s championship include Henry Brodt (3x), Raymond Linares, David Rowell, Robert Hall, Bruce Choyce, Kenny Brisbon and Ernesto Bayaua.
A total of 128 players have come to the Tampa Bay area to compete in this year’s U.S. Amateur Championship.  The winner will advance to the U.S. Open next year.
